Protronic announces today that it is starting production at its subsidiary in Risnov (Brasov). At the beginning of 2006 a new subsidiary was set up in Romania to guarantee the competitive capacity and further growth opportunity of the company. In addition, Protronic is changing its name with immediate effect to PsiControl Mechatronics.
PsiControl Mechatronics designs, develops and produces electronic and mechatronic systems such as switchboards and switched reluctance motors. In order to strengthen its cost-competitive position and to absorb the growing project portfolio a new subsidiary was set up in Risnov (14 km southwest of Brasov, Romania).
"For PsiControl Mechatronics this is an important step towards a stronger position in the world mechatronics market. By producing in Romania as well, our competitive position can only get stronger", explains Walter Bilcke, Plant Manager PsiControl Mechatronics.
“This week the first products will be manufactured in Romania. PsiControl Mechatronics is starting firstly with the cable preparation so as to be able to settle down to insertion and testing from July onwards. As previously mentioned we are also starting in parallel with product engineering. We’re convinced that the start-up of our production in Romania will be successful, and will contribute to the further growth of PsiControl Mechatronics.”
New name
As from today Protronic is changing its name to PsiControl Mechatronics. The name Protronic had been under pressure for a while already because various foreign companies, including some competitors, are active under the same name. As a result the decision was taken to look for a new name. The new name is composed of three parts: ‘Psi’, the Greek letter that stands for magnetic flux linkage (measure of power of the magnetic field). One of the key competencies of PsiControl Mechatronics is actually the development of electromagnetic components such as switched reluctance motors; ‘Control’ stands for the electronic control of electromagnetic components and processes. And finally, ‘Mechatronics’ stands for the integration of the various disciplines (mechanics, electronics and software) that PsiControl Mechatronics is able to offer its customers.
The new name not only underlies the ambitions of PsiControl Mechatronics to occupy a leading position in the area of mechatronics, but will also serve to reinforce its high-tech image and brand reputation. The name change goes hand in hand with the launch of a new website at www.psicontrolmechatronics.com, with more detailed information about the activities of PsiControl Mechatronics.
