With headquarters in Ypres, Belgium, PsiControl Mechatronics is a subsidiary of the Picanol Group (Euronext: PIC), an international group specialized in the development, production and sale of weaving machines and technology for the textile industry and other sectors. Within the Picanol Group, PsiControl Mechatronics is specialized in an entire range of electronic and mechatronic solutions. Among others, it develops machine controllers, man-machine interfaces, actuators, step motors and switched reluctance motors, and this both for Picanol weaving machines and other customer applications. In addition, it provides a full range of services such as R&D, prototyping, purchase and production.
In early 2006, PsiControl Mechatronics established a new subsidiary in Romania, PsiControl Mechatronics Srl, in order to continue guaranteeing competitiveness and to meet the needs of a growing project portfolio. The opening of the new establishment in Romania is in line with the further expansion of PsiControl Mechatronics. "For PsiControl Mechatronics, this is an important step towards a more solid position on the global mechatronics market. By setting up production in Romania, we can considerably strengthen our competitive position,” explains Walter Bilcke, Manager PsiControl Mechatronics. “With our new facilities we can offer our customers an extensive service package. Our activities in Romania today comprise, among others, SMD, purchasing, insertion, testing, product engineering and the assembly of cables and printed circuit boards. We currently already implement, for example, a number of projects for international customers such as Atlas Copco, Picanol, Traficon, Transics and Warner Electric.”
The new facilities cover a surface area of 3500m2, of which around 80% is earmarked for production. In view of the further growth plans of PsiControl Mechatronics Srl, an agreement was signed today to extend the plant with an extra 3600 m2. PsiControl Mechatronics Srl currently employs 45 people. Currently there are vacancies for Software Development Engineers, Purchase Engineer, Warehouse Responsible and SMD-operators.
